Last year, New Bedford native Jarrad Nunes was in a holiday funk. Although, instead of letting his emotions get the best of him, he turned his situation into an initiative for change, known as The Cheer Project.

According to The Standard Times, The Cheer Project is a countdown to Christmas done by a series of videos on Facebook, in which before singing, Nunes gives a shoutout to the non-profit organization.

Last year, Nunes' efforts raised over $7,000 for nonprofit charities, and this year Nunes has passed the $5,000 mark again, and regardless of the total, is simply appreciative to anyone who donates.
