Sears Announces Closing of 60+ Stores

As of right now, the locations on the Southcoast are not on the list. 

Sears Holding company released a list of 63 stores (49 Sears and 15 Kmart stores) that will be closing in the coming months. The stores are all deemed "unprofitable" and are spread across 29 states. Employees of stores set to close will receive severance packages and will be offered the chance to apply at other Sears or Kmart locaations.

In recent years, Sears Holding has closed over 400 locations as they struggle to compete with Amazon and other online-based internet companies. Liquidation sales will begin in the next couple weeks.

Kmart in Fairhaven closed a couple years ago, but the Sears in Dartmouth and Taunton are not on the list for closure.
