Scammers Targeting Those Touched by Sean Gannon Tragedy
YARMOUTH - The Yarmouth Police Department says if you receive a phone call asking for donations to the "Sean Gannon Fund," hang up. It's a scam.
The Barnstable Police Department says they've received calls from all over New England from people who have received calls asking them to donate to the "Sean Gannon Fund."
Yarmouth Police say while there are legitimate fundraising efforts to benefit the Gannon family, no efforts to raise funds are being made with phone calls.
Yarmouth K-9 Sgt. Sean Gannon, a New Bedford native, was fatally shot by a man he was serving a warrant against in Barnstable earlier this month.
