Restaurant Reopens After Salmonella Shut Down

Churrascaria Aveirense on the corner of Sawyer St. and  Belleville Ave in New Bedford, was recently exposed after the Massachusetts Department of Public Health found a cluster of salmonella cases.

This week,  driving through the north end of New Bedford, the restaurant's mascot  "big chicken" in a suit was spotted in frigid temperatures promoting their reopening. In order to reopen, the restaurant and employees were required to test negative for the bacteria as well as adhere to all DPH requirements.
