REPORT: Man ‘Snapped,’ Stabs Wife Multiple Times in Fall River
FALL RIVER - Fall River Police have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing his wife Friday morning.
The Herald News reports the man was taken into custody at the Bates Towers Apartments at 57 Bates Street.
An elderly woman with a blood-stained face was seen being taken from the building on a stretcher and placed into an ambulance. Soon after, police emerged from the building with a man in handcuffs, and placed him in the rear of a cruiser.
Scanner reports indicate Fall River Police responded to a 9-1-1 call just after 9 a.m. of a man who had stabbed his wife. The call was reportedly placed by the suspect, himself, who said he stabbed his wife several times after he "snapped."
Fall River Police later issued a statement saying the 74-year-old man was "detained for questioning" in the investigation of "a 69-year-old female who was suffering from multiple stab wounds." Police say the incident is currently under investigation by the FRPD's Major Crimes Division, and that it is not considered to be a random act.
