Raynham Crash Shuts Down Section of Interstate 495
RAYNHAM (WBSM) — Firefighters remain on the scene in Raynham as the cleanup continues following a rollover crash that caused a fuel spill on Interstate 495 southbound this morning.
According to Raynham Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita, the department responded shortly after 8 a.m. to the scene. A heavy-duty dump truck filled with gravel had overturned into the median on I-495 and caused a fuel spill.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the crash happened in the area of mile marker 17.2.
The driver of the dump truck refused an offer to be transported to a local hospital, LaCivita said.
Massachusetts State Police and MassDOT responded to the scene, shutting down a section of I-495 and diverting traffic via Exit 18 while encouraging drivers to seek alternate routes.

“A major cleanup of the gravel, hydraulic fluids and diesel fuel that was spilled by the truck is underway,” LaCivita said, with assistance at the scene from the Middleboro Fire Department.
