Dog Saved in Raynham House Fire
RAYNHAM (WBSM) — A dog was saved and a family displaced in a house fire this morning in Raynham.
According to Raynham Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita, the department responded shortly before 10 a.m. this morning to a report of a house fire at 239 White Street.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the single-family home. The owner of the home had evacuated before they arrived, and told firefighters that the fire had started in the kitchen and that his dog was still inside the home.
Fire crews were able to enter the home and extinguish a bulk of the fire, while Lt. Brad Carr and Firefighter Tyler Carey were able to locate the family dog and bring it to safety.
The scene was cleared by 1 p.m.
No one was injured in the fire, but the residents will be displaced for a significant amount of time, LaCivita said, and are being helped by the American Red Cross.
"Members of the Raynham Fire Department did a great job to make quick work of the fire," LaCivita said. "Crews were able to quickly gain control of the fire to prevent it from spreading further and without any injuries to people or animals. We thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
