Pub 6T5 on Ashley Boulevard in New Bedford has officially been sold. The team of Albert Santos and Howie Mallowes are once again joining forces to breathe new life into the location.

Santos, along with Dan Magalhaes of State Fruit, purchased the building toward the end of August. The restaurant has been closed since the end of June. Once reopened, it will be operated by Mallowes, who plans to rent the space from Santos and Magalhaes and manage the business.

A New Name for Pub 6T5

The upcoming restaurant will be called Off the Boulevard, a nod to its Ashley Boulevard location. There’s a chance the full name may be expanded to Off the Boulevard Grill and Pizzeria, but that is still under consideration.

Off the Boulevard Menu Preview

Chef Joe Rego, the executive chef for Mallowes’ restaurant group, will design the menu. It will resemble the offerings previously found at Pub 6T5, but with some notable upgrades.

“We're going to elevate it a bit,” said Mallowes. “We’re also getting a different pizza oven so we can make larger New York-style pizzas. We try to think about what foods aren’t already available around here.”

Another exciting change is extended hours for late-night pizza delivery, offering more options for New Bedford night owls.

Renovations and Updates

While there won’t be a full renovation, some important upgrades are already in motion. The new owners are updating kitchen equipment and installing a modern exhaust system. A new floor will be laid in the dining room, but the bar and overall layout will stay largely the same.

When Will Off the Boulevard Open?

You can expect Off the Boulevard to open its doors sometime in November.
