A gorgeous summer evening in Downtown Providence set the tone for a successful STYLE WEEK on Thursday. Rhode Island’s fashion lovers gathered on the patio of Capital Grille as five designers showcased their 2024 Spring and Summer collections on the Sweeney Advisory Runway.

The 27th season of STYLEWEEK proved that Rhode Island is a place where fashion and creative expression thrive.

In 2003, after an unsuccessful art show, Kent Stetson cut up his canvasses and made them into handbags. Those handbags sold instantly, and it started a successful career of making artfully-distinct handbags.

His Rhode Island workshop has earned several awards, with each piece produced to order. For STYLEWEEK, Stetson collaborated with Ballet RI to produce an eye-catching lineup of clutch bags and fun oversized crewnecks with the help of professional dancers.

Melina Cortes-Nmili of Lalla Bee was born with a deep desire for greatness. A lack of professional attire for women inspired her to create a fashion brand that put quality and style at the forefront.

“My vision has always been focused on those who are busy, those in executive roles, and those who cherish their appearance,” she said.

SWNE by Rosanna M. Ortiz was a beautiful reminder of how clothing is so much more than just what we wear. It's a form of artful expression and it was on full display this year.
