I’m a person of the arts. Well, I’ve dabbled, and that's what life is all about – seeing something you like and giving it a shot in some capacity. Some would say the best time to do your dabbling is in your youth. If you’re harboring some real talent for the stage, you almost have to give it shot.

If you’re between the ages of 11-14 and a Rhode Island student, then the Community Outreach Committee of the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) has an opportunity for you. At a minimum, what you learn will make a great story for your TikTok.

They’re taking applications now for the ARTS Scholarships 2021 program. Should the applicant be accepted, they will receive $500 in financial assistance. There will be 30 Rhode Island school attendees selected.

This scholarship offers you an opportunity to participate in local arts education programs during the summer of 2021. Instead of diving into something your passionate about blindly, this will broaden your experience so you can find a performance area to study. They’re keeping to COVID-19 guidelines as well; they’re not accepting hardcopy applications. All applications and supporting materials are to be submitted electronically via Google Forms and OneDrive portal links posted on PPAC’s website.

You even have time to dabble and see if this is something you really want to try; you have until February 26 to have everything submitted. Take your time and find more information by going to ppacri.org or you can call Cynthia Goldsmith at (401) 574-3105.
