Providence Dave & Buster’s Human Crane Delivers Wild Arcade Fun
Well, hoist me up and drop me down.
Downtown Providence’s Dave & Buster’s inside the Providence Place Mall has a brand-new attraction that’s pulling people in – literally.
The Human Crane, a life-sized version of the classic arcade claw machine, lets guests strap in and dangle over a pit of oversized inflatable prizes, and I had the chance to try it for myself.
The Experience
The cost is $20 per play, but the adrenaline rush and laughs are priceless.

A trained Dave & Buster’s employee handles the controls while carefully checking the harness and straps to make sure players are both safe and comfortable. Once you’re lifted off the ground, you get 10 full seconds of airtime before being lowered into a pool of inflatable prizes like giant donuts, oversized bananas, and other fun floaties.
Pro tip: Ask the attendant to spin you; it's a rush.
Big Guy Approved
One thing I was curious about was weight limit.
At nearly 300 pounds, I wondered if the crane could handle me and as it turns out, this claw means business. It held me securely and gave me the full ride without a hitch, proving that it’s not just for kids or lightweight players.
Why It’s Worth It
Between the thrill of being hoisted into the air and the chance to snag an oversized inflatable souvenir, the Human Crane is an experience you can’t really find anywhere else in New England. It’s part arcade, part carnival ride and all fun.
If you’re planning a night out in Providence and want to mix things up from the usual arcade fare, the Human Crane is definitely worth dropping the $20. Just make sure your friends are recording, because this is one ride you’ll want to watch back.
