Police Searching For Suspect In Taunton Shooting

State and local police are searching in Taunton for the suspect in a Thursday morning shooting.

ABC6 reports that police have confirmed with them that a shooting took place in Taunton this morning near an apartment complex on 5th Avenue.

The Taunton Gazette reports that the victim was transported to Milton Hospital by a civilian, but did die from his gunshot wounds. The shooter remains at large.

Neighbors reported hearing the shots around 9:30 a.m. and one witness told the Gazette that she saw a male running from the scene. She described the suspect as short, possibly Hispanic with short dreadlocks.

The gazette also reports that the Bristol Community College campus on Summer Street near where the shooting took place has been out on lockdown, with no one being allowed into or out of the building.
