Police Investigating After Shots Fired In Fall River
FALL RIVER — Police in Fall River are looking into reports of shots being fired over the weekend in a city apartment complex a few blocks from the Rhode Island border.
According to Fall River Police spokesman Det. Moses Pereira, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Pereira said police officers responded to reports of shots being fired at around 4:33 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 near 2000 Bay St., which is the address of the Bay Village apartment complex in the city's South End.
Officers arrived to find "evidence to corroborate the reports of a shooting," according to Pereira.
He did not elaborate on what evidence was found, although unconfirmed scanner reports indicate that shell casings may have been present at the scene.
Unconfirmed reports from residents on social media noted that around seven to 10 gunshots were heard in the area at that time.
Multiple residents also reported via unconfirmed social media posts that streets in the area were blocked off as police conducted an investigation.
Pereira said detectives assigned to the Fall River Police Department's Major Crimes Division are actively investigating.
