Plymouth Man Charged in Father’s Murder
UPDATE: Paluzzi pleaded not guilty during his arraignment today in Plymouth District Court. He was ordered held without bail and will next appear in court on October 2.
PLYMOUTH (WBSM) — A Plymouth man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his father.
According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, Matthew Paluzzi, 26, was arrested Thursday for the murder of his father Anthony Paluzzi, 73.
Matthew Paluzzi was arrested Thursday afternoon in Hanover after Plymouth Police had put out a Be on the Lookout alert for him and for a 2017 Nissan Murano. Police also posted to social media that they were seeking Paluzzi and that he should be considered armed.
According to Cruz, Plymouth Police had responded at about 6:26 a.m. Thursday morning, August 15, to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive man in the kitchen of 15 Cedar Road, bleeding from a laceration to his neck. The caller reported that the victim was covered with blood, and a kitchen knife was located near the front door.
When first responders arrived, the victim, Anthony Paluzzi, was pronounced deceased.
Matthew Paluzzi was later located by Hanover Police along Columbia Road and taken into custody. The D.A.'s Office said he had "apparent blood stains on his clothing, and a swab of his hands resulted in a presumptive positive screen for the presence of blood."
Cruz said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
Paluzzi is scheduled to be arraigned today in Plymouth District Court.
