Payless ShoeSource is recalling their boys light-up sneakers after police in Texas believe they were the cause of a car fire.

The shoes in question are the Jake Lighter Runner sneakers, featuring "Jake and the Neverland Pirates."

The sneakers feature lights that flash as the child moves, but one family in Texas now believes they also caused their car to catch fire.

WCVB reports that the Virag family of Houston had been out and about last Friday and wound up leaving their two-year-old son's shoes and some clothes in the car.

When they got up on Saturday morning, the inside of the family's SUV smelled like burned plastic and the shoes were burnt to a crisp.

The family believes it was the lithium battery in the shoes that started the small blaze and they are extremely thankful their son wasn't wearing them at the time.

Police in Harris County released a statement saying the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Payless has pulled all of those Jake Lighter Runner sneakers from their shelves.
