Coit: Entertaining Patriots Will Be Unable to Stop the Dolphins
Patriots are spending the weekend in Miami. Don't let the sunny and 70 degree weather fool you. The Patriots have really never felt comfortable down in South Beach. Old timers will remember that the Patriots carried an 18-game Orange Bowl losing streak into the 1985 AFC Championship Game. In fact, the Patriots had only ever won 1 game at the Orange Bowl.
Even during the Brady years, Tom was only 8-10 down in Miami over the course of his career.
There's just something in the water down in Miami that doesn't agree with the Patriots.
The Dolphins are getting healthier as the season progresses. "Offensively they seem to be near full strength," says ABC 6 News Director, Nick Coit. "Tua is back on the field for the last few games. They've been putting it back together. They've won two straight. This is going to be a tough game for the Patriots. As much as they've struggled, when they have all the pieces in place, most importantly the quarterback, they seem to play well."
Coit says that the Patriots defense really needs to prove that they can stop a good offense.
The bright spot is the offense and how much Drake Maye is developing right before our eyes. "The arrow is pointed upward. Every week he seems to improve," says Coit. "The thing that he's going to need to improve on is taking care of the football. The turnovers have hurt."
Coit is predicting a Patriots loss this weekend, with the Patriots defense struggling to contain wide receiver Tyreek Hill and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. "Make no mistake, the Patriots continue to be an entertaining team to watch. As long as they keep improving, fans should be happy."
