Newport, Rhode Island Named Great Destination for Girls’ Weekend

Gather your girls and get ready for a weekend away. You may be packing a suitcase, but the good news is, you don't have to go far (or spend a lot of money) to enjoy a nice vacation.

Travel + Leisure shared its picks for some of the best destinations to spend quality time with your girlfriends without breaking the bank. You can probably guess a few, such as Nashville, Tennessee, which has become a popular spot for bachelorette parties in recent years.

New Orleans is also on the list, as is Key West, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina. The latter has seen a huge wave of tourism over the last decade and I can't help but think it may have something to do with popular BRAVO shows Southern Charm and Southern Hospitality filming there and highlighting the area.

Closer to home, you'll find Newport, Rhode Island. The City by the Sea has a long history of hosting socialites in the Gilded Age and continues to entertain the masses with its beautiful beaches, stunning mansions, delicious restaurants and more – sll aspects that Travel + Leisure recognizes in its list.

Other noteworthy suggestions include shopping on Thames Street, touring mansions, hiring a captain for a private sail or renting bikes to pedal your way through the area.

If you're looking to book a trip with the ladies, consider a long weekend in Newport. If you can swing it, enjoy some off-season pricing during the next couple of months before the tourists get there.
