New Study Says Ice Cream May Be Good for Breakfast
Here I come, Dairy Maid!
So many studies suggest this food is good for you, and that food is bad for you. Very rarely do I hear about a food that I love being "good for me."
Apparently, ice cream has proven to have its benefits, and well I do like to indulge in a gallon or two of cookie dough ice cream.
The study was conducted by Professor Yoshihiko Koga of Kyorin University, and the conclusion was made that eating ice cream can improve alertness and mental performance.
The professor compared the brain activity of participants who had ice cream right after waking up with those who did not. Those participants who had ice cream had faster reaction times and less mental irritation. The latter alone has me running to Stop & Shop!
Now, this was from a Japanese professor and the article did mention that the study was done to help promote a sweets company based out of Japan. However, all my Japanese friends are extremely smart and well-tempered, so I think this study may have some cred.
Obviously, ice cream has lots of sugar so I may just stick to my eggs and a protein shake; but a few scoops of ice cream and some wishful thinking may not be a bad alternative now and then.
So I'm sure some of you out there have had ice cream for breakfast before. Do you think it made you more alert and less irritable? Do you think it's because ice cream has any special properties, or is it just because you got to start the day with a delicious treat?
