If you love Italian food, then a new restaurant in the works at the historic Rodman Candleworks building could become a favorite spot this fall.

The Standard Times reports that the owner of the Black Whale, Albert Santos, has purchased the Candleworks building and is working to open an Italian restaurant there as early as this fall.

Renovations are reportedly already underway and Carmine’s Italian Ristorante could open by mid-October or early November.

Black Whale general manager, Luis DaSilva (who will also be general manager of Carmine's) confirmed the news to the Standard Times on Friday and told the newspaper that the new restaurant will be "quieter" and "more intimate" than the Black Whale.

He described the new eatery as providing "seating for about 70, a high-quality wine list and a menu that offers classic Italian dishes along with new twists."

Carmine's will occupy the ground floor for the four-story Candleworks building with tenants being sought for levels one and two.
