For the last two years, Newport Winter Fest has been on hold. Now the festive seasonal week of family fun, food and entertainment is back and kicking off 10 days of events throughout the city.

No matter your age or interest there is plenty of fun to be had in Newport from February 17-26 with more than 150 events planned from the beaches to the bars and everywhere in between.

And with the school vacation week happening for many at that time too, it could be just what local parents need to get the kids out of the house and away from the screens.

So what can you find at Newport Winter Fest?

Each day has it's own list of events, though almost every day of Winter Fest you can find seal tours, classic car tours, even helicopter tours throughout Newport. Easton Beach's Exploration Center and Aquarium will be open, a hot chocolate bar along the Cliff Walk with be available, there's an ice carving competition and chili cookoff, plus story times for kids every day and musical or comedy performances every night.

Parents can also find Mad Science shows, a Toe Jam Puppet Band performance, princess party, Pokémon crafts, magic show and kids pizza making class to fill the time away from school.

A fun filled week for sure.

Most events do have a cost attached to them, though there are plenty of free events as well. Plus those planning to attend multiple Newport Winter Fest activities can purchase an event bracelet for $10 that gives you discounts to all the events and can ultimately save over $500 throughout the week.

Even without the bracelet, there is plenty to see and do during Newport Winter Fest, or anytime in Newport.
