New Bedford’s Historic Nine-Bedroom Home Is Back on the Market — With Upgrades
A New Bedford mansion is back on the market for $1.2 million
We shared the story of this unique home going up for sale not too long ago, but it resurfaced on listing websites this week.
According to Holly Prentice at Mott & Chace Sotheby's Realty, the pandemic, in part, convinced the current owner of the Joseph Arthur Beauvais House to stay put a little longer after it went up for sale the first time in 2021.
Since the 19th-century County Street beauty was last on the market, some work has been done.
"The chimney was repointed with an incredible exterior brick design," Prentice said. "The heating system and the house itself is in pristine condition."
Also, the price has gone up, as expected given the housing market, but only by $100,000 or so. It was originally listed for $1.1 million.
This place comes equipped with nine bedrooms, so just imagine splitting your mortgage payment between nine friends. Not that you would want to.
The listing makes the home sound irresistible:
Inside, the house retains original architectural features, such as a grand quarter-sawn oak staircase with meticulous wood details, extensive decorative moldings, a stained-glass skylight, a second story balcony, nine unique, custom fireplaces and spectacular panoramic views from the widow's walk.
