There's only one small change in this years race.

If you are a seasoned runner and chose the NB Half as a fun event to get you warmed up for a bigger run or if you are ready to tackle your first half marathon, you are sure to get the most out of this traffic free route.

It’s the 39th Annual New Bedford Half Marathon and organizers are expecting a great turnout this year. Entries are a bit ahead of last year and they hope to break 3,000. With such a mild winter thus far, organizers are confident it will be the events biggest turnout yet.

According to The Standard Times the only thing that has changed this year from last is the 3-hour cutoff time for runners.  If runners have not reached Mile 7 within 100 minutes of the start, they will be directed on at Mile 11, right at the start of County Street. Race Director Dan McMarthy says, “This allows us to free up the traffic, EMTs and police on time, if not earlier.”

Winners for both the women and men’s race get $1,000 each and the $2,000 prize will be for the new course record for men and women.  Happy running :)
