New Bedford Will Explode Seized Fireworks Today

Don't be alarmed if you hear several explosions after 4 this afternoon.   New Bedford Fire Chief Michael Gomes told us that public safety department people will be destroying a large quantity of fireworks seized over the 4th of July holiday.

The fireworks will be detonated at an undisclosed location.  The chief says that area residents should not panic.   if you hear the explosions, no need to call 9-1-1, everything is under control.
