New Bedford-Area Group Looks to Form Turning Point USA Chapters
Some folks in the New Bedford area are hoping to launch area chapters of Turning Point USA and are calling for a meeting with like-minded individuals to make it happen.
A Turning Point USA "Kickoff Party" will take place in New Bedford next week, and organizers say it's open to all ages.
Kickoff Meeting Details
Kayla Churchill, Gavin Alves and Ali Verismo-Barbosa, "the board of the TPUSA for Bristol County," are asking those who might be interested to meet at 6:15 p.m. at 174 Union Street on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Churchill, of Assonet, said attendees will "meet leadership, honor Charlie, and learn how to get involved." Churchill said the group hopes to form TPUSA chapters in area schools, colleges, and the community.
"We're going to hit the schools, baseball and football fields, and we have reached out to our churches as well as for guidance and more boots on the ground," she said.
Churchill said there is a lot of interest in starting local TPUSA chapters, and the group is "just getting organized" at this point, using social media to reach people. The group has begun reaching out to the local school superintendents.
Charlie Kirk’s Legacy
Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, was gunned down on September 10, 2025, while appearing on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, where he was debating students on his Christian beliefs and conservative political ideology.
Since Kirk's assassination, there have been tens of thousands of requests for information about starting local TPUSA chapters.
Community Outreach Plans
There have been vigils in Kirk's memory throughout the world, including most recently in Freetown and Acushnet.

A Walk for Unity in remembrance of Charlie Kirk is planned for October 11, 2025, at 183 Court Street in Plymouth. The event begins at 3 p.m.
Tony Luizinho, a 1974 Dartmouth High School grad has pledged $3,000 to help form a TPUSA chapter at Dartmouth High School.
