Gunshots rang out in New Bedford last night near the corner of Acushnet Ave and Grinnell Street. A State Police Trooper saw a male yelling in the street, who ran away through the Bay Village housing projects and into the area of the Gomes School. While he was being chased, the suspect reportedly tossed a loaded .22 caliber semi automatic handgun...which was later found. After a brief struggle, police placed 18 year old Luis Rafael Class under arrest. Police say he had a single .22 bullet in his pocket when he was captured. The teen does not have a license to carry a firearm. He was arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Court on several gun charges and resisting arrest.
