Well, New Bedford, looks like you can add Misha Collins to the list of celebrities who have paid a visit to the Whaling City.

The star of The CW's longtime hit Supernatural is the new foodie host of a show called Roadfood coming to PBS, where he visits restaurants across the country and dives into the local culture of the surrounding area. It just so happens that Tia Maria's European Café was the highlight of his recent trip to New Bedford where he was introduced to some of the finest Portuguese cuisine offered downtown.

Alongside Collins was Cassie Canastra, the Director of Operations at BASE Seafood Auction and a local here on the SouthCoast who assisted with showing him around the fishing community with a tour of the F/V Marguerite C.

Not only did Collin's film crew capture the true essence of New Bedford's waterfront, they decided to swing thru Tia Maria's to sample some local flavor.

Owner Jessica Arruda offered a few customer favorites with a couple of fresh brewed coffees to sample with the food.

"We served him a Queijo da Serra sandwich along with a galão," she said in a Facebook post. For dessert, he was given a homemade pastel de nata to go with his coffee.

It still to this day amazes me the impact Portuguese food can have here on the SouthCoast. It's become such an everyday cuisine to the locals that we tend to forget how special it is that it is only found here in New England and not really anywhere else in the country.

This Roadfood episode will be only serve to beef up New Bedford's culinary resumé, which has grown considerably as of late. It's got me thinking that perhaps the main reason celebrities are visiting the area so much – such as Kevin James and Bill Murray and now Collins – is our delicious food. I'll take a cacoila sandwich over a slice of pizza any day of the week, so I can't blame them.
