NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police responded to reports of shots fired early this morning at the Satellite Village housing development in the city's North End.

Police said that around 2 a.m., units responded to the housing development on Apollo Drive in response to shots fired at a residence.

Upon arrival, police determined that the suspect lived nearby and would not respond to investigating officers.

The SEMLEC (Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council) team was activated and made their way to the scene.

At around 7:30 a.m., the suspect, who police discovered to be a juvenile, exited the residence peacefully and was taken into custody.

No further information was provided.
