New Bedford Public Schools partnered with “STEAM the Streets” for a community-wide campaign.

Back in May of 2020, NBPS invited the community to provide creative content for a social media campaign entitled #NBTLC. “The campaign aims to show that even during this time of extended school closure, the NBPS community is stepping up to the challenge with creativity and resourcefulness to enhance TLC; Teaching, Learning and Connecting," said Superintendent Thomas Anderson.

The collected contributions from members of the community came together in a district-wide music video that was released on Wednesday, June 17. Tomorrow is the last day of the school year.

Speaking enthusiastically of the online campaign, Superintendent Thomas Anderson stated, “NBTLC is an innovative way for our students, families, and staff to show the community their creativity and engagement in teaching, learning and connecting.  STEAM stands for 'Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math' and ‘STEAM the Streets’ focuses on the arts by tapping the creativity in each of us.”

Teachers submitted videos showing innovative projects they’ve assigned to their students, and students and families submitted videos of themselves working on those projects at home. Some made art to represent what TLC meant to them. Others danced, sang, or showed off other talents.

The biggest message from this video was a giving of thanks. Special people are helping us all get through these tough times. And that effort has not gone unnoticed.
