New Bedford Police ‘Respond’ To Bear Fight at Buttonwood Zoo
If you thought the humidity was getting to you today, you are not alone.
Even the bears at Buttonwood Park Zoo were feeling the affects of today's swampy weather and they clearly decided to take out their grumpy moods on each other.
Lucky for those of us who didn't make it to the zoo today, officers from the New Bedford police department was on hand for the feisty brawl, with cameras rolling of course.
New Bedford Police shared an action packed video on Facebook about responding to a "Fight in Progress Call." Turns out the assailants were Moose and Oona, the black bears adopted by Buttonwood Park Zoo last September.

As NB police put it, "Today, NB police responded to the Buttonwood Park Zoo regarding a fight in progress, which can be seen below..."
Buttonwood Zoo obviously enjoyed the video as well, re-sharing the reel with a couple of laughing face emojis added.
The bear battle only lasted a few seconds, but both competitors were fighting fiercely.
Perhaps when the animal Olympics ever happens, these two would be contenders in the boxing ring.

Maybe the bears were just a little jealous that yesterday was International Cat Day and not International Bear Day.
The zoo will be celebrating their big cats on Saturday August 10th for a "Caturday" event featuring face painting, crafts, cat chats and more.
Though clearly any trip to Buttonwood Park Zoo has to include a visit to see the black bears as well. They definitely can put on a show.
