It goes without saying that each one of our men and women in blue deserve a little praise every once in a while – especially those who lead by example within the community like Officer Stephanie Connolly of the New Bedford Police Department.

Recently, a heartfelt testimonial from a New Bedford citizen highlighted the exceptional work of Connolly, sharing their tenant's experience and emphasizing how she professionally transformed a crisis into a moment of safety and inspiration.

"Officer Connolly turned a crisis to her feeling extremely safe and gave her words of inspiration, and built a lot of trust with the department. I would like to encourage her to keep up the good work for the City of New Bedford," the testimonial read.

The New Bedford Police Department echoed these sentiments, commending Officer Connolly for her compassionate and professional handling of a neighborhood dispute in the South End earlier this month. Her calm demeanor and reassuring presence were pivotal in de-escalating the situation, turning a potential crisis into a controlled environment.

Officer Connolly’s actions have been described as a "beacon of safety and support," reinforcing the community's trust and respect for the department. Her approach not only fulfilled her duties as a law enforcement officer but also exemplified the core values of compassionate policing.

Adding to the praise, Denise Morency Gannon, mother of fallen Yarmouth Police Officer K-9 Sergeant Sean M. Gannon, acknowledged Officer Connolly’s exemplary service.

"Officer Connolly’s actions are a true testament to the values of law enforcement, reinforcing the trust and respect the community has for the department. Stephanie Connolly was the first recipient of The K-9 Sergeant Sean M. Gannon Academy Scholarship, our legacy foundation named for our son who died in the line of duty E.O.W.4.12.18, YPD. Sounds to me that Officer Connolly is following in Sean's footsteps," Gannon commented on the department's Facebook page.

Officer Connolly’s dedication and compassionate service have left a lasting impact on the New Bedford community and within police headquarters, solidifying her as a trusted and respected figure in law enforcement.

Kudos, Officer Connolly, and thank you for a job well done.
