It’s easy to take daily routines for granted—until something unexpected reminds you how much a small act of kindness can mean.

On Friday, March 28th, at around 3:30 PM, my wife, who is 32 weeks pregnant, was taking our dog for a walk, as she often does.

We’ve always loved strolling through Oak Grove Cemetery in New Bedford’s West End, a peaceful escape from busy roads. In five years of walking there, we’ve never had a single issue—until that day.

As my wife walked past the PACE Headstart daycare on Smith Street, a woman suddenly ran out of the building, waving to get her attention.

“Be on high alert,” she warned, pointing out my wife’s prominent baby bump. “I wanted to let you know there’s a rogue coyote walking through the cemetery.”

Without hesitation, my wife turned around and walked straight back home.

This daycare teacher didn’t just think about her own students’ safety—she took the extra step to warn a passerby who could have unknowingly walked into danger. Thanks to her, my wife and our unborn child avoided a potentially dangerous encounter.

Once my wife was safely home, I immediately tried calling PACE to thank the teacher, but by then, the daycare had closed for the day. So, to whoever you are—THANK YOU. Your quick thinking and kindness may have saved my wife from a terrifying experience.

It’s easy to get caught up in our own lives, but this was a reminder that there are still good people out there looking out for others. And for that, we're incredibly grateful.
