New Bedford Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Announces Opening Date

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford’s newest discount store now has its opening date.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet has announced it will open for business on Wednesday, July 31. The store will be open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

The store is located in the Fieldstone Marketplace off Kings Highway, in the former Shaw’s Supermarket.

“You'll save up to 70% off the fancy stores' prices on brand-name food, housewares, flooring, books, clothing, bed & bath, toys and so much more! We've got items of all description...and some beyond description!” Ollie’s posted on the Facebook event page for the grand opening.

Back in March, we shared the news that Ollie’s is coming to New Bedford and were told by Tom Kuypers, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising for Ollie's, that the store was slated to open "in mid-summer."

Well, the July 31 date is right on target for that, if not a little early.

Ollie’s is just one of the new retail stores expected to open in the area in the coming weeks and months. Work continues on the Burlington store coming to the Fairhaven Commons plaza, as well as the Harbor Freight Tools that is also coming to Fairhaven in the former Regal House Outlet building next to Ocean State Job Lot.

For those unfamiliar with Ollie’s, it has a lot of similarities to the late, great and beloved Building #19, including using its "Good Stuff Cheap" slogan, but the rumor that the two chains are connected isn’t true.

To give you an idea of what to expect at Ollie’s, the current flyer features deals such as a Coleman beach tent for $29.99, zero gravity chairs for $49.99, Hurley headwear for $4.99 and beach towels starting at $3.99.

Now if only the SouthCoast could get a Binstar store.
