BOSTON — A New Bedford man who was found to have two kilograms of cocaine will spend six and a half years in prison for conspiring to deal "large quantities" of the drug.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said 48-year-old Jaime Torres was sentenced Thursday to 78 months in prison and five years of supervised release.

Torres pleaded guilty to multiple drug conspiracy and possession charges in June after investigators found around two kilos — or just over two standard bags of flour worth — of cocaine in his storage unit.

They also found a veritable buffet of other drugs, including 117 grams of a heroin mixture, 55 grams of a mixture containing fentanyl, and over 43 grams of methamphetamine.

Authorities said Torres conspired with others to distribute the massive quantity of cocaine for most of 2019.

He pleaded guilty to multiple counts of cocaine conspiracy and possession as well as possession of 100 grams or more of heroin, 40 grams or more of fentanyl and five grams or more of methamphetamine.
