New Bedford Rooftop Lobster Mascot is Getting Named
Ever since the lobster on top of the Fathom's/Fisherman's Market building on Pope's Island New Bedford appeared, he's been kind of a fan favorite.
If you've got little kids, there's no doubt the lobster has become an attraction that your family waves to as they drive by on the New Bedford/Fairhaven bridge. The lobster is doing his job, he's putting the Fisherman's Market on the map.
Lobster is Getting Some Social Media Publicity
This summer, the lobster has started to appear in some AI generated videos that have been featured on the Fisherman's Market social media platforms. Some of the videos have been pretty entertaining.
As the videos have rolled out, however, one problem became apparent. The famous lobster doesn't have a name. Here he is, working to get this business some income, and the poor guy is nameless.
Why Does the Rooftop Mascot Need a Name
Luckily, someone at the Fisherman's Market recognized the need for the lobster to be named. After all, a mascot isn't really a mascot if he doesn't have a name. Imagine if Ronald McDonald was just a nameless clown. Doesn't really pack the same punch.
How Can New Bedford Locals Vote in the Contest
Fisherman's Market announced a contest to name the lobster. Many names were submitted, but the business has narrowed the selection down to the Top 10. Now, they are asking locals to vote for their favorite name. We have secured the list of the lobster names, and you can review them below. Vote for your favorite name at NewBedfordSeafood.com. You could win a $25 gift card to the Fisherman's Market.
For the record, I'm putting my money on Lars. Calling Kalshi now.
