UPDATE: New Bedford Police reported to WBSM Monday morning that one person was detained and then released and officers did recover a stun gun from the scene.

New Bedford Police said tonight’s football game between the New Bedford High Whalers and the Taunton Tigers was canceled after several disturbances broke out in the crowd.

The game was called after the third quarter with the Tigers up 33-7.

According to police, officers arrived at the football field to assist and the crowd had to be cleared from the stands.

Police said no arrests were made and no weapons were recovered.

New Bedford Police provided no further information on the incident.
