According to O’Leary’s release, the extra time between student dismissal and staff dismissal will be used “for student academic support, staff planning and professional collaboration.”

The change to the schedule came after negotiations between the school department and the New Bedford Educators Association, the release stated.

Students will be released at 2:40 p.m. for the final time this year on December 20. December 21 will be an early release day, and then students are off from December 29 until January 2 for winter break.
