Massachusetts is well on its way to reopening. Good Morning America decided to spend some time in the Bay State to show how the commonwealth is bringing things back to "normal."

'Rise & Shine' is a new segment on the morning talk show that is a cross-country tour of America as the country reopens. It features a different state each time, and this morning's segment highlighted Massachusetts and showed a few familiar sites including Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. Cisco Brewery even made an appearance and mentioned the new location in New Bedford.

Lara Spencer dove right in to name the city's biggest claims to fame, including a nod in Herman Melville's classic Moby Dick, it was a leader in the whaling industry back in the 19th century, and is currently the "highest-grossing fishing port in the US for the 20th consecutive year."

There is no doubt that the SouthCoast knows its seafood and New Bedford is the driving force behind it all. According to the video, scallops make up 84 percent of the total catch and New Bedford is home to the only woman captain on a scalloping vessel in the New England fishing industry. Jessica Walker is the captain on the Legacy and knows how to shuck with the best of them.

The video is just under six minutes long, but it is so nice to see our little corner of the world get a spotlight for a minute or two. It's a sweet life by the salty sea.

Can You Pronounce These SouthCoast Street Names?

As Maddie continues to figure out her way around the SouthCoast, there are some street names that have caught her attention.
