A New Bedford bar will host an After Pride Block Party that will close down some streets during the celebration.

It's only been a few months since The Gallery Bar NB came under new ownership but the new owners are motivated to not only be a safe space for the LGBTQ + community but also remind the SouthCoast they are here to stay.

"For 40-plus years, 20 Kenyon Street has served as a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTQ community and its allies," said Jes Fritze, one of the owners of The Gallery Bar. "We consider ourselves an all-inclusive bar and art gallery where everyone is welcome."

The event will take over the space right in from of The Gallery Bar and you can plan on the street being closed for most of the night on June 7. It is a 21 and up event and there is a $10 cover. Entry to the After Pride Block Party with be on North Front Street. Kenyon Street will be blocked off for the celebration.

A Pride celebration would not be complete without some fabulous entertainment including drag performances by The Gallery Bar's very own house queens, or as they like to call them, the Gallery Gals. The event will be hosted by local queens Crystal Diamonds and Phlegm Mignon.

Another notable feature will be New England's only LGBTQ+ owned and operated distillery providing some delicious beverages.

June is Pride Month with celebrations happening all over the SouthCoast. This sounds like such a fun time and a perfect opportunity to let loose and dance like no one is watching.

The road closure will begin mid-afternoon on the June 7 so plan accordingly. Entry will begin at 5 p.m. and go until 1 a.m.

It's no easy feat to get approval and permits to pull off such an event, so kudos to everyone involved and here's to providing a safe space for everyone.
