The  Family Dollar store on Kings Highway in New Bedford has the shelves stacked with Valentine's Day goodies and we're wondering if it's too soon.

It feels as if retails stores are getting desperate to sell the next commercial holiday and it's making me despise the day of love more than usual.

I get it. When it comes to these bigger holidays like Halloween or Christmas, we have to plan our outfits and schedule family gatherings, so maybe loading up the stores with decor is helping us get a jump start on all of that.

To an extent, having holiday goodies out two months before is passable.

Valentine's Day is a simple holiday in my mind, one that involves making sure you get reservations at a restaurant and order some flowers.

So excuse me for being a bit jaded by the fact that Family Dollar hasn't even let the Christmas holiday season even happen before they've moved on to the next.

Are you telling me people will actually go and buy candy for the day of love right now and expect it to still be good two months from now?

We understand you want to show your love but are any of us really thinking about V-Day already?

This post is coming from a single man, so maybe it's just me and the rest of the singles that feel this way, but this is a bit much.

Maybe I'll give Family Dollar a pass on this and they are simply trying to get rid of some of last year's inventory to make room for the new stuff coming after the New Year.

For those of you that like to plan ahead, I guess you can get all of your lovey-dovey needs taken care of by heading to Kings Highway.

It's a no for me until at least the end of January. This is just craziness otherwise.
