New Bedford ESports Enrollment Deadline Extended
New Bedford Parks, Recreation & Beaches has extended the enrollment deadline for the Central MA Esports League. This opportunity is open to both residents of New Bedford and non-residents.
According to a recent press release, there is a new partnership with GGLeagues to provide new gaming opportunities through Esports. “Our competitive league will offer your favorite video games and consist of players from Central Mass recreation departments. GGLeagues referees will organize, officiate, and monitor the game sessions in order to ensure proper conduct and sportsmanship.”
To participate, you must register first on NBPRB.com and instructions will be sent out on how to enroll with GGLeagues. Two divisions are available, Elementary (grades 3-5), and Middle and High School (grades 6-12).
Your kids will have the chance to compete in their favorite games like Fortnite, FIFA 21, Madden 21, NBA2K21, and/or Super Smash Bros leagues. Each league will consist of six weeks of competition, including five weeks of regular-season and one week of playoffs.
Registration ends on Monday, January 11. The league begins the week of Monday, January 18. The cost is $30 per player and there are prizes for players in the top place.
Here is the schedule for each league:
- Mondays: Madden 21 league from January 18 through February 15. The playoffs will start on February 22.
- Tuesdays: Fortnite league from January 19 through February 16. The playoffs will start on February 23.
- Tuesdays: FIFA21 league from January 19 through February 16. The playoffs will start on February 23.
- Wednesdays: NBA 2K21 from January 20 through February 17. The playoffs will start on February 24.
- Thursdays: Super Smash Bros league from January 21 through February 18. The playoffs will start on February 25.
The Elementary Division game times are from 7 to 8 pm. The Middle and High School Division game times are from 8 to 9 pm.
