New Bedford Man Arrested in Dartmouth on Firearms Charges
DARTMOUTH (1420 WBSM) – A 20-year-old New Bedford man was arrested Thursday in Dartmouth after he was served an arrest warrant and found to be in possession of a firearm without a license.
According to Dartmouth Police, Officer Darren Emond served an arrest warrant to Koby Gedeon for a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Gedeon was searched, and police said they found a loaded semi-automatic handgun on him as a result.
He now faces charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, in addition to the warrant charge.
“In a society currently inundated with gun violence, I am thrilled that my officer was able to take this individual, as well as the loaded firearm that he was illegally carrying, off of the streets before they could harm anyone,” Dartmouth Police Chief Brian P. Levesque said.
Based on police logs, New Bedford Police arrested a Koby Gedeon who is the same age in May of 2021 on a warrant charge as well. At this time, no further details could be found about that arrest.
