NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — Police have concluded an investigation into repeated thefts of thousands of dollars of equipment from commercial trucks in New Bedford.

Daniel Pedro, 47, has been arrested in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins during which tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools and air compressors were allegedly stolen.

Police said all of the incidents occurred late at night or early morning, and entry was gained by breaking windows.

On July 10, Pedro was taken into custody after police stopped him. They said that at the time of his arrest numerous tools, such as a Husky Air compressor, Milwaukee toolbox and Rigid Shop Vacuum, were found in the truck.

Pedro is now charged with 12 counts of breaking into a vehicle or boat, eight counts of larceny over $1,200, larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property greater than $1,200, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

According to police, Pedro also has an extensive criminal history with 120 adult arraignments on his record.

He has numerous convictions for various offenses, including 13 charges of breaking and entering.

Pedro was held on $30,000 bail and is currently in the custody of the Bristol County Sheriff's Office.

Police are asking anyone who has had similar equipment stolen from their vehicle to contact the department at (508) 991-6300.
