The people behind New Bedford's legendary Feast of the Blessed Sacrament are famous for throwing a great party, and now they are adding to that a new tradition with the first annual Country Music Festa this coming Saturday, October 8 on the feast grounds.

"We're trying different venues to make up for the three years we lost because of the pandemic," said Larry Jacques, President of the Clube Madeirense S.S. Sacramento, Inc. "We've enjoyed success with the craft beer fest that's working well, so we tossed around the idea of trying an all-day country music festival at the feast grounds."

Jacques said the club plans on giving another $40,000 in scholarships and vocational awards, as well as continue to give back to the community non-profits and families in need.

The live entertainment will feature popular country music artists like Monsta Country, Ashley Jordan, The Goat Ropers Band, Rebecca Correia and Rob Bellamy.

"We'll be offering some of the most authentic, home-cooked ribs and country food trucks, like Cobb's Southern BBQ, Bubbe's Blintzes, Phoenix on the Fly, Travelin' Bones BBQ, Lobster Roller, Travelers Ale House and Two Sisters," Jacques said. The food trucks accept cash, debit and credit cards.

The inaugural event is for adults only – no exceptions – and will be held Saturday, October 8 at Madeira Field from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a rain or shine event.

The organizers ask for no backpacks or coolers and no large purses or bags, and no outside food or drink. Tickets will be on sale for beer and wine.

Admission is $15 online or $20 at the gate on the day of the event.

When asked how to say "ya-hoo" in Portuguese, Jacques laughed and said, "You know what? That's a good question. Let me call you right back."
