New Bedford Country Music Festa Canceled Due to Weather
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford will be a little less country on Saturday, and a little more cold and wet, as the inclement weather forecast has forced the cancellation of the second annual Country Music Festa at the feast grounds.
The event had been scheduled for this Saturday, June 3. It was the second annual Country Music Festa after last October’s successful debut.
“As much as we were looking forward to line dancing, gathering under the open sky and enjoying the festivities, we have been closely monitoring the weather conditions leading up to the event. Unfortunately, the forecast indicates a high chance of rain and unseasonably cold temperatures on the day of the event,” the event organizers Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento said in a release.
“Our top priority is ensuring an exceptional experience for all attendees, and we believe the inclement weather would compromise the comfort and enjoyment of our guests,” the club said.

The afternoon of country music was actually a fundraiser to benefit the club’s scholarship fund. Each year, Club Madeirense awards more than $40,000 in scholarships.
“To those who have already purchased tickets through Eventbrite, you will receive a full
refund for the ticket price, via Eventbrite,” the club said.
