New Bedford’s Chosen Family Market Hosts Halloween Festival with Artisans, Oddities, and Drag Shows
Get ready for a fang-tastic day of Halloween festivities as The Chosen Family Creative & Wellness Market returns with its Halloween Festival.
On Sunday, October 27th, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Whaler Inn Banquet Hall in New Bedford will transform into a magical world filled with local artisans, captivating performances, and mystical treats for the whole family.
Shop, Treat, and Get Your Fortune Told
With over 30 unique artisans, you can shop to your heart’s delight and snag everything from handmade oddities to spellware and crystals. Feeling spooky? Get a tarot, bone, or astrology reading for an extra thrill, and see what the stars (or bones) have in store for you.
DJ Eddie from TNT Productions will be spinning hair raising tracks to keep the vibes spooky and fun. Plus, there will be spellbinding drag performances that you won’t want to miss!
Dress to Impress
Costume contests are open to all ages, so dust off your most creative, spooky, or downright hilarious costume and strut your stuff for a chance to win fun prizes.
Give Back and Get Lucky
This year, the festival has teamed up with Bristol Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa and School on Wheels Massachusetts to support education. Bring a new book for students in grades 5-12, and you’ll get two raffle tickets for a chance to win some exciting prizes. Every donation makes a difference, and this partnership highlights the power of community, just in time for the season of giving.
Supporting the Community
Founded in 2023 by AJ Delsignor, The Chosen Family Creative & Wellness Market was born from a mission to uplift marginalized communities, including the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, disabled, and woman-owned businesses. Since its inception, it has provided a platform for over 200 vendors and performers to shine. This Halloween event also marks a fundraiser to help the organization achieve 501(c)(3) accreditation, setting the stage for even bigger events in the future, such as LGBTQIA+ Pride and Juneteenth celebrations in 2024.
Mark your calendars for this Halloween extravaganza—bring your costume, grab your friends, and have yourself a good old fashioned day of fun, shopping, and community magic.
