A report released Thursday by NOAA Fisheries shows landings in the Port of New Bedford totaled $389 million in 2017, the 18th consecutive year that New Bedford has been the number one port, dollar-wise, in the nation.

No. 2 was Dutch Harbor, Alaska with a total value of $173 million.

Dutch Harbor landed the most fish in 2017, at 769 million pounds. New Bedford was 13th in landings with 111 million pounds. Officials say scallop landings helped boost the value of the landings in New Bedford.

A second report by NOAA shows there were 1.2 million people across the nation working in the seafood industry in 2016.

California tops the jobs list with 125,000. Massachusetts was second with 87,000 jobs.
