I've always said it.  Behind every sign is a good story.  It's true.  If you walk into a business and see a sign that seems a bit odd, I can guarantee there's some kind of a strange story that initiated the need for that sign.

For example, there's got to be a story behind this "G-rated" Wendy's that I once came across while on a road trip in Connecticut.

That's why we were so eager to call the Raynham Center post office after one of their customers sent us a photo on the Fun 107 app in the hopes that we could find out more.

The sign is hanging on the entrance to the Raynham Center post office, and it reads "Due to hygiene concerns, we will refuse money that has been handled after finger-licking.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."

If this doesn't spark images of Kentucky Fried Chicken and Colonel Sanders shouting "finger-licking good," I don't know what does.

According to Nick Dossantos, a supervisor at the Raynham Center post office, the sign was hung up by a staff member after a number of people came into the office one day licking their fingers to help peel off paper money.  "She was just so grossed out that she printed up the sign and hung it up."  Dossantos said that the sign has helped, but hasn't cured the problem completely.

I can't say I blame the postal workers for not being thrilled with receiving money that has just been licked in front of them.  It's not secret.  Money is filthy.  There's no need to lick your fingers before you hand it to someone.  But, I will say this, I'm even more skeeved out for the customers who were licking their fingers before touching the money.  My brain hurts thinking about how gross that is.
