Mikel is a thoughtful, mature and likeable 16-year-old. When asked to describe his personality, Mikel stated “I am friendly, and I try to be kind to others.” He has a variety of interests including watching and playing basketball, football and other sports.  Mikel enjoys singing and dancing to pop and hip hop music.  He is a real fan of Fun 107 music and couldn't get enough Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak.  Mikel also likes playing video games such as Mario and NBA 2K.

Mikel, maintains positive relationships with adults and peers.  He is currently enrolled and he is excelling at school.  Mikel was on the honor roll all last year and received all A’s to wrap up the school year.  When asked about his favorite subjects in school, Mikel said they are history and math.  Mikel explained “I like history because I like to learn about what happened in the past.”  Regarding math, Mikel shared that even though it can be challenging at times, he receives satisfaction from working hard and “pushing through” tough assignments.  Mikel loves learning so much that he hopes to become either a history or a math teacher in the future.

While Mikel is open to families of all different constellations, he is really seeking the nurturance and love of a mom.  The right family for Mikel will need to support his relationship with his two biological sisters.

Who Can Adopt

If you’re at least 18, have a stable source of income and have room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples. As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees. Adoption from foster care is completely free in Massachusetts.

The process to adopt a child from foster care includes training, interviews and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that will be a good fit.
