Everything to Know About Middleboro’s Crantoberfest 2025
Cranberries have long been one of the area's biggest crops, and Middleboro is celebrating the cherished berry with a festival.
Every fall, we talk about pumpkins and apples, but what about the vast land we have in the area that is used as bogs to grow cranberries?
What better town to honor the beloved, underrated berry than Middleboro, home to Ocean Spray's headquarters?
What Is Crantoberfest?
The Middleboro Tourism Committee, as part of Discover Middleboro, has been putting on Crantoberfest since 2014, taking a few years off due to the pandemic. Each year, it has not only added fun interactive attractions but also educational experiences.
New This Year: The Traveling Bog!
One feature that is new this year and everyone is talking about is the "traveling bog" that will be on display for all to see and learn about how cranberries are grown, thanks to Massachusetts Cranberries.
I can recall when I was maybe 12 years old, helping my Uncle harvest cranberries at his bog in Lakeville, and just how the harvesting process is a very time-consuming one that has multiple steps and a volatile time window, as weather and temperatures play an important role in being able to harvest the best cranberries.
Crantoberfest 2025 will take place on Saturday, October 11, beginning at noon, right on the lawn of Middleboro Town Hall on Nickerson Avenue.

Leilani Dalpe, chair for the Middleborough Tourism Committee, assures visitors there is plenty of free parking and reminded me that the event is free to attend.
"One of the highlights is the parade which gets kicked of by alpacas and usually features around a hundred kids in their Halloween costumes," she said.
Family-Friendly Events and Contests
Cranberries are a fall staple, especially around the dinner table for Thanksgiving, and this event is packed with cranberry-themed items. A cranberry bakeoff with prizes, a Miss/Mr. Crantoberfest contest, cranberry races, and so many fun activities.
For the adults, there will be a beer garden hosted by Bartending Service of New England. There will also be tons of local vendors on hand, including several food trucks.
This sounds like the perfect fall afternoon for the family, so put that on your calendar now.
