Delicious Food and Fun to Highlight Mattapoisett’s Taste of the Town
Mark the Mattapoisett Woman's Club's annual Taste of the Town on your calendar. It will take place Tuesday, July 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. under the big white tent at Shipyard Park.
Sue Hering and Kate Brown of the Mattapiosett Woman's Club joined Townsquare Sunday this week to talk about the 19th annual waterfront party.
"Last year we had between 400 and 500 people attend the Taste of Mattapoisett, and I hope this year we have even more," Brown said. "We're hoping that people will hear about us, and come over and join the fun."
Eleven restaurants from Mattapoisett are participating in the event, and Hering said there will be a wide variety of dishes on the menu.
"There will be some new restaurants joining us and it should be a fun activity," she said.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the evening by the Showstoppers, a local singing and dance group.
You couldn't ask for a nicer setting, with a stunning view of Mattapoisett Harbor.
The organizers said tickets are available at the door, and all of the proceeds will be directing into the Woman's Club Scholarship Fund.
The club is awarding three scholarships this year; recipients will include a pair of local students and an adult seeking to return to school to further their education.
Parking is always limited around Shipyard Park, so those attending Taste of the Town are encouraged to board free shuttle buses from St. Anthony's and the Mattapoisett Town Beach to the park. The busses will run continuously from 4:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Finally, if you plan on dining at the Mattapoisett Taste of the Town, you are asked to arrive no later than 6:45 p.m. The restaurants will stop serving at 7 p.m.
